The Business Data & Technology Systems Analyst is an independent subcontractor who provides expertise in assessing business, data, and technology systems for nonprofit organizations, public sector agencies, and other client organizations. The Business Data & Technology Systems Analyst responsible for conducting feasibility studies, assessing current and prospective systems, and evaluating existing systems, workflows, and operational practices to identify inefficiencies, define needs, to develop recommendations and strategic improvement plans, including implementation strategies, aligned with organizational goals. This role may also support training and transition planning related to recommended systems and solutions.
The Business Data & Technology Systems Analyst helps identify challenges and opportunities related to technology utilization, CRM systems, data management, system integrations, process optimization, automations, SaaS platforms, workflow efficiency, and organizational capacity.
This role may assess and support a range of business management systems and operational technology environments, including CRM databases, member management systems, case management platforms, project management tools, learning management systems (LMS), grants and donor management systems, financial and budgeting systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and workforce management systems, document management systems, reporting and business intelligence platforms, workflow automation tools, and other cloud-based SaaS solutions used to support organizational operations and service delivery.
Work under this subcontract will begin only upon contract award and issuance of the official notice to proceed.Key Responsibilities- Participate in organizational reviews and assessments with a focus on technology systems to identify opportunities to strengthen operational effectiveness, system functionality, and organizational capacity
- Partner with the project team and client departments to align business, data, and technology needs with organizational goals, operational capacity, and service delivery models
- Understand the organization’s programs, service delivery processes, data workflows, and technology systems used across operations
- Assess current business systems, data practices, technology utilization, and operational workflows
- Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the practicality, readiness, and value of proposed systems, process changes, automations, or technology solutions
- Identify challenges, technological gaps, inefficiencies, redundancies, and opportunities for optimization
- Evaluate existing and prospective software, systems, integrations, automations, and workflow solutions
- Make recommendations for improved business processes, system utilization, data management, and operational effectiveness
- Develop strategic recommendations and implementation strategies for system improvements, workflow enhancements, and technology adoption
- Support planning for system transitions, process redesign, automation opportunities, and implementation readiness
- Develop reports to communicate research findings, assessments, recommendations, risks, and strategic improvement pathways
- Help justify costs, resource needs, and operational implications associated with proposed improvements
- May support training and orientation of client teams on recommended systems, tools, workflows, or technology-related process changes
- Maintain clear, professional communication with key stakeholders
- May be expected to attend client meetings
- Work with minimal supervision
- Additional related tasks may be assigned
Important Engagement TermsThis role is structured as an independent subcontractor engagement, intended to support the firm’s contract-based service delivery, and is not an offer of employment. Work under this role may be assigned on an as-needed basis and is project-based, and contingent upon contract award, client need, funded client work, and official notice to proceed. Selection for this role does not guarantee immediate placement, a fixed number of hours, a minimum amount of work, or guaranteed compensation absent an executed prime agreement and authorized scope of work.

- Experience with a range of SaaS platforms and business management systems
- Experience or familiarity with collaborative work spaces such as Google Workspace and SharePoint, and project management tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Jira, etc.
- Experience using Microsoft and Google programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs and Google Sheets
Qualifications- Three (3) or more years of experience in a similar position (or two years with strong evidence of successful outcomes in comparable work)
- Ability to lead or support assessment of a variety of technology systems for large-scale public sector projects
- Experience with governmental agencies and/or nonprofit organizations
- Experience supporting public sector agencies (examples include federal, state, and local government agencies, public hospitals, and public education systems)
- Experience with a range of SaaS platforms and business management systems
- Experience with business systems analysis, technology assessments, CRM systems, SaaS tools, data/process improvement initiatives, or operational technology strategy
- Skilled in communicating with diverse stakeholders across all levels of an organization
- Professional communication skills
- Ability to receive feedback gracefully
- Understanding of how to apply feedback effectively
- Courage to ask questions when unsure
Requirements- Subcontractor must own a laptop or desktop computer with reliable internet access
- Three (3) or more years of experience in a similar position (or two years with demonstrated success in comparable work)
- Knowledge of or experience conducting feasibility studies
- Experience with business systems analysis, technology assessments, or operational process improvement
- Experience developing strategic recommendations related to systems, workflows, or operational improvements
- Knowledge and skill in writing narratives, analytical summaries, and strategic reports
- Ability to research software details, system functionality, and integration possibilities
- Able to learn new software and familiarize oneself with its features quickly
- Able to support training related to recommended systems, workflows, or technology solutions

CompensationThis engagement is structured as an independent subcontract and is not classified as hourly, salaried, or employment. A fixed compensation will be per project, and according to pre-approved rates outlined in the contract [addendum].
BenefitsThis is a contract engagement, and the selected subcontractor(s) will be required to sign a Subcontractor Agreement. As an independent subcontractor, this engagement does not include employee benefits. The subcontractor is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and business expenses. The subcontractor will receive financial compensation for work produced for pre-approved projects or pre-approved deliverables, as per the signed contract.
