2025 Update: What About the Funding Freeze?
Toward the end of January 2025, it was announced to North Americans that there would be a temporary freeze on funds, which would impact some nonprofit organizations. This caused high concerns for the effective work of organizations and for where things are headed in terms of grant availability and even compliance requirements.

Nonprofit funding still exists!
Research shows, especially using one of the most reliable industry sources, Giving USA, among others, that although large amounts of money are given from governments, the great majority of total charitable giving comes from individual donors (and has long-time been the case), even in the face of inflation. Remember, there are multiple sources by which to receive funds for your organization, which I have a post about this on my LinkedIn page as well as my blog.
Unsurprisingly, the number of nonprofit organizations rose to 2 million in 2023, and despite its challenges, funders continue the long-time culture of giving. Charitable giving surpassed $500 billion in 2023, which was an increase from the year prior (Giving USA 2024 Annual Report).
If you have an idea that you are passionate about, you are encouraged to acknowledge your gift and possible calling to fulfill a need in your community or society.
